New offerings from sherpa since December 2025
- 🇪🇬 Egypt eVisa: Canadian nationals can now apply for a Multiple Entry eVisa through sherpa.
Electronic visa and border system updates in December
- 🇿🇦 South Africa opened its eTA portal to all travelers from China, India, Indonesia, and Mexico. Entry remains limited to OR Tambo, Cape Town, and Lanseria airports, and applicants must be 18+.
- 🇮🇳 India extended the 30-day Tourist eVisa application window, allowing travelers to apply up to 120 days before arrival instead of the previous 30 days.
- 🇮🇳 India increased eVisa fees for Business and 5-Year Tourism programs, with fees for most nationalities increasing by USD 40 to USD 120. Some nationalities saw larger increases, such as UK passport holders whose 5-Year Tourism fee increased from USD 80 to USD 484.
- 🇰🇷 South Korea extended the eTA exemption for 67 countries until December 31, 2026, allowing visa-free entry without advance electronic authorization for US, UK, EU, and other nationals. Travelers without an approved eTA must complete an electronic arrival card within 3 days of arrival.
- 🇵🇪 Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) in Lima began enforcing a mandatory USD 11 fee for international transit passengers, payable online.
- 🇨🇴 Colombia's CheckMig travel declaration is back online following maintenance. The government encourages completion before arrival.
- 🇭🇹 Haiti launched iKat, a recommended travel declaration for arrivals.
New visa exemptions and policy changes in December
- 🇺🇸 The United States expanded visa restrictions for certain nationalities effective January 1, 2026. Eight countries were added to full visa issuance suspension, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Syria. Fifteen countries were added to partial visa issuance suspension, including Nigeria, Senegal, and Tanzania.
- 🇩🇴 The Dominican Republic extended eased passport validity requirements for travelers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the US, the UK, and EU countries, requiring passports to be valid only for the duration of stay instead of the usual six months. The measure runs until December 31, 2026.
- 🇧🇴 Bolivia exempted nationals of the US, Israel, South Korea, South Africa, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, and Romania for stays up to 30 days.
- 🇴🇲🇹🇷 Oman and Türkiye implemented a visa waiver agreement on December 22, 2025.
- 🇬🇪 Georgia will require all foreign nationals entering for tourism to present valid travel insurance from January 1, 2026. Policies must provide minimum coverage of USD 11,000.
- 🇲🇳 Mongolia renewed its 30-day visa exemption for 34 nationalities (including UK, Australia, France, and other EU countries) for tourism purposes.
- 🇰🇭🇨🇳 Cambodia announced a visa exemption for Chinese citizens beginning June 15, 2026 through October 15, 2026.
Upcoming electronic entry documents announced in December
- 🇧🇷 Brazil announced plans to expand its eVisa system to include Chinese passport holders, expected in the first half of 2026.
- 🇲🇺 Mauritius announced plans to launch an eTA system in 2026.
